'Recalled to life'
As invented by Dr Alexandre Manette during his long incarceration at the Bastille. Lots of people think cobbler is so called because it looks like cobbles, but this is nonsense. Cobbles aren't round or golden, they are grey and rectangular. In fact, they are named in memory of the wronged physician around whose story much of Tale of Two Cities revolves. Dr Manette took to cooking in later life, and named this dish after the hobnails he had spent so many years knocking into boots as the forgotten denizen of cell one hundred and five, North Tower. His original recipe also contained saffron threads, recalling the two golden hairs he had carried with him during his lonely vigil at the workbench and through the endless nights on his cold pallet and that were all that remained to him of his lost love.
